Shade
Tree Meeting Schedule for 2008
The goal of the
Princeton Township Shade Tree Commission is to create and
maintain optimum tree cover, species diversity, and a pleasant
planned environment over the 17 square-mile area of Princeton
Township. The Princeton Township Shade Tree Commission
is responsible for planting and maintaining trees along
Township streets, public rights-of-way, and municipal open
space. The Commission meets the first Thursday of each
month at 5:30 PM, with the exception of August, September
and October, in the Township Hall.
This year Princeton Township has been again designated as a TREE CITY USA. This honor goes to communities that have a tree ordinance, a legally established Shade Tree Commission, a comprehensive urban forestry program, and an Arbor Day celebration. As s TREE CITY USA, we can receive extra credit points on tree funding grants and are eligible to participate in the Shade Tree Seedling Program. The Commission would like to remind every Township resident that permits are required before removing or pruning any trees in the Township's right-of-way. A permit is also required if the trunk of the tree canopy is over the right-of-way even though the tree may be on private property. Township residents should call the Township Engineering Department to determine if a permit is required before cutting or pruning any tree at 609-921-7077, ext. 220.
