Princeton Township
Warning Information
Princeton Township does not have any outdoor warning sirens. General public alert & warning will be accomplished through a combination of:
- Radio Station notification
- Cable TV Access Channel
- Web Page updating
- Telephone notification
- E-mail up-dates
- Door to door (when required or practical)
- Severe Weather
- Major Hazardous Material or Chemical Spill
- Special conditions in the Township.
During emergencies residents should turn your radio to one of the Emergency Broadcast Stations, and listen for essential emergency information. Do not call local fire or police agencies to ask why. If it is an emergency, they are occupied getting equipment and manpower to the emergency scene.
With everyone striving for more energy efficient homes, it should be noted at times outdoor warning sirens may not be able to be heard inside. That is why other means of warning are being put into place (i.e.: Princeton Township Telephone Notification System).
It is important to monitor your local radio station during times of emergency for further information. During times of severe weather the National Weather Service issues a Severe Thunderstorm Watch or a Hurricane Watch for 6 hour periods. The Weather Service may terminate a watch early if weather conditions change and the threat of severe weather no longer exists. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning or a Hurricane Warning are normally issued for a period of one (1) hour. Warnings are usually allowed to expire on their own, without an early termination from the Weather Service.
