Important Notice for Construction
Beginning Friday August 24
August 17, 2007
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Dear Witherspoon Street Neighborhood Residents:
Beginning Saturday, August 18, 2007, weather permitting,
Top Line Construction, the Township’s Contractor, will
begin the road reconstruction phase of Witherspoon Street which
includes the milling of the roadway between Valley Road and
Leigh Avenue. The work is planned to begin at
6:00 AM on Saturday morning and is anticipated to be completed
in one day, weather permitting.
Residents are asked to remove vehicles from Witherspoon Street
on Friday night or Saturday morning, prior to the early start
time scheduled for Saturday. Residents will be allowed
to park on sections of Valley Road, Guyot Avenue, or Henry Avenue
where work will not take place.
During construction working hours, one lane alternating or two
lanes of traffic will be maintained on Witherspoon Street. The
road will be re-opened to full two-way traffic at the end of
each day.
Work hours will be between 6:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Provisions
will be made for continued services such as mail delivery, garbage
and recycling pick-up.
If the Engineering Department can be of assistance, or if you
have any questions prior to 9:00 AM, or after 5:00 PM, please
contact Robert Killian, Construction Administrator (cell phone
#306-3974).
Beginning Monday, August 20, 2007, weather permitting,
Top Line Construction, the Township’s Contractor, will
be installing the final course of pavement on Witherspoon Street
starting at Leigh Avenue and working toward Valley Road. The
work is planned to begin at 5:00 AM on Monday morning and is
anticipated to be completed in one day, weather permitting.
Residents are asked to remove vehicles from Witherspoon Street
on Sunday night or Monday morning, prior to the early start time
scheduled for Monday. Residents will be allowed to park
on sections of Valley Road, Guyot Avenue, or Henry Avenue where
work will not take place. Vehicles should not be parked
near the intersections with Witherspoon Street in order to allow
access for the paving equipment.
After the paving of the final course on the roadway is completed,
you will be prohibited from using the road for a 3-hour period
up until approximately 8 P.M. This restriction will prevent
permanent marring of the blacktop during its “curing period”. Residents
will then be allowed to return to their driveways once the road
is opened.
Work hours will be between 5:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Provisions
will be made for continued services such as mail delivery, garbage
and recycling pick-up. In the event of rain, you will be
receiving an additional notice rescheduling the work.
If the Engineering Department can be of assistance, or if you
have any questions prior to 9:00 AM, or after 5:00 PM, please
contact Scott Hutchinson, Engineering Inspector (cell phone #731-2631). Between
9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, you may contact Robert Killian, Construction
Administrator, or myself at 921-7077.
Your assistance in continuing to tolerate the temporary inconvenience
associated with this work, which will lead to a permanent improvement
of your neighborhood is appreciated.
Sincerely,
Robert V. Kiser, P.E.
Township Engineer
