Dear Clearview Avenue, Doran Avenue, Tee-Ar Place and Grover Avenue Neighborhood Residents:
As many of you have noticed, Aponte Construction Company has been back in the neighborhood to resume the completion of the reconstruction project. The majority of the work remaining involves the completion of certain concrete walkways, paving of the driveways, top soiling and seeding, and installing the top course of asphalt on the roadways throughout the neighborhood. Work will proceed in that order, starting at the end of this week or beginning of next week. Weather permitting, the concrete work is anticipated to take one week, the driveway work will last approximately two weeks, and the final paving of the roads will be completed by the end of April or early May.
The contractor will have the street accessible at the end of each workday and on weekends. In addition, passage will be provided for mail and other deliveries, garbage and recycling collection and emergency vehicles at all times.
You will be notified prior to work proceeding in front of, or on your driveway, which may require you to relocate your vehicle(s). Also, you will be receiving an additional notice prior to the final paving of the roadways.
If the Engineering Department can be of assistance or if you have any questions, please contact Anthony Soriano, Engineering Assistant by cell phone at 731-6615 or myself at 921-7077. In addition, project updates will be available on the Princeton Township website (http://www.princetontwp.org) under “Road Projects”. Questions and comments can also be directed to Mr. Soriano through the Road Projects website.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we look forward to the completion of this project, which will lead to a permanent improvement of your neighborhood.

As you
can see from Clearview Avenue and Tee-Ar Place, the project is
really coming together now. The asphalt that has been put down
on those two roads is only the base course, but is a tremendous
improvement to the previous condition of the roads.Currently
Aponte Construction Company, the Township's contractor is working
down Dorann Avenue from Tee-Ar Place towards Grover Avenue in
preparation of its base paving. During the normal working hours
of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM it is requested that all vehicles be removed
from Dorann Avenue and relocated to Tee-Ar Place, Grover Avenue
or another location you find suitable. Your cooperation in this
matter is greatly appreciated. Remember
that if you have any questions or comments you can reach me by

The project has now moved into high gear. The road reconstruction
has
started and the necessary steps are being taken to provide long
lasting
roads. As you are aware, the work began on Tee-Ar Place and has
now moved
to Clearview Avenue. At this time, travel on Clearview Avenue
should be
avoided when possible. Residents on Tee-Ar Place should use Dorann
Avenue
or head to Franklin Avenue to leave the neighborhood. Residents
on Dorann
Avenue should exit the neighborhood via Grover Avenue. As the
work
proceeds, more traffic plans will be posted on the website. Your
continuous
cooperation is greatly appreciated.

As you are aware the Township’s contractor, Aponte Construction Company, Inc. is progressing with neighborhood improvement project. The storm sewer installation is complete, and the Belgian block curbing installation is nearly finished. The sidewalk work is proceeding and is expected to be finished in the week of October 24th, weather permitting. It is anticipated that the reconstruction work for the roads will begin the week of October 24th, weather permitting. During this phase, the existing road will be milled out, and excavated down to the required depth to allow for the placement of the base layers of the new roadway. As this work proceeds, driveway access will be restricted during working hours. You will receive additional notification prior to any restriction to your driveway access. All work including the final paving of the roadways is anticipated to be completed by Thanksgiving. Regular project updates can be found here on the Township’s website. All neighborhood notices will be available at this website as well.A link is provided on the road project page that allows you to contact Anthony Soriano, the project inspector, directly through e-mail. In addition, you can contact Mr. Soriano by cell phone at 731-6615, or myself in the Engineering Department at 921-7077.Your assistance in continuing to tolerate the temporary inconvenience associated with this work, which will lead to a permanent improvement of your neighborhood is appreciated.Sincerely,Robert V. The installation
of Belgian block curb is 99% done. There are a few driveway depressions
on Grover Avenue that have to be adjusted, and some additional
work on Clearview has to be done to provide a handicap accesss
ramp across from the Tee-Ar Place sidewalk. The concrete
sidewalk installation is moving along at a nice pace on Clearview
Avenue. When the concrete sidewalk and aprons are being installed
at your driveways you will not have access to your drives for
approximately two (2) days. This allows for ample curing of the
concrete.As you
may have noticed, the work stops when it is raining or there is
a threat of rain. There is a big risk involved with pouring concrete
in bad weather conditions, and it is safer to wait a day or two
for better conditions, rather than risk having to rip out concrete
that is unacceptable and install new.Again,
I'd like to thank everyone for their patience during the construction.Anthony

The installation
of curb throughout the neighborhood is progressing nicely. I'd
like to appologize for the extended inconvenience many of you
faced by not having access to your driveways. We have developed
a better system that will result in much less delays in regaining
driveway access throughout the rest of the Belgian block curbing
installation.The concrete
sidewalk work will begin very soon. If you are having sidewalk
installed across your property, your driveway access will again
be suspended until after the sidewalk and concrete apron have
sufficiently cured. Once all
of the Belgian block curb is installed, the contractor will "box
out" the roads. This is the process that involves the removal
of the
existing asphalt roadway in preparation for the remaining road
work. If
you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.Anthony

First off, I would like to appologize for the lack of updates over the past couple weeks. I will try my best to make at least one update a week, and there will always be an update when important information needs to be relayed to you.
As you have noticed, work on the project has kicked into high gear. The storm sewer installation is almost complete, having just Tee-Ar Place and a portion of Dorann Avenue remaining. I appologize for any inconvenience you have faced with regards to getting to and from your
driveways and even in and out of your driveways. I have tried my best to coordinate when possible, and appreciate your understanding in this matter.
The Belgian block curbing and concrete sidewalk installation will begin soon. Work will start on Grover Avenue and then continue on Clearview Dorann Avenues. When work is being performed across your driveways, you will be restricted from moving your vehicles in and out of your driveways until the concrete has cured enough. You will be notified before work begins across your drives.
Remember, you are always welcome to contact me by e-mail (question and comments link at the top of this page), or by cell phone (609.731.6615).
8/11/05Ground was broken today at the intersection of North Harrison Street and Clearview Avenue. Aponte Construction Company has begun the road reconstruction project with the installation of 24" reinforced concrete pipe, manholes and catch basins for the storm sewer system.Clearview Avenue between North Harrison Street and Tee-Ar Place will be closed during construction hours until further notice. During this time, no left turn can be made onto Clearview Avenue off of North Harrison Street while heading south, and no vehicles will be permitted to access North Harrison Street from Clearview Avenue. Vehicles can still reach Clearview Avenue by using Tee-Ar Place or Grover Avenue off of Franklin Street, or via Grover Avenue off of Terhune Road.
We appreciate all of your cooperation during the reconstruction project.
7/18/05Due to the warm weather it took some extra time to flush and disinfect the new water mains on Clearview and Grover. Since the water passed the required tests, Vollers has been making the necessary connections to the residences from the new water mains. The water utility work on Clearview was completed last week and continues on Grover Avenue this week.Since a 5 year moratorium on road openings is established for all roadways that are reconstructed, it was decided that the new water main will be extended northerly on Grover Avenue to the limit of work for the reconstruction project. It was originally going to stop about 150 feet short of the limit of work. Anyone effected by this additional work will be notified prior to the work beginning.
You will notice some survey work being done this week. This is Aponte Construction Company's surveyors performing the layout work required for the project. Soon Aponte will be bringing in their materials and equipment for the job and the work will be underway next week.
6/28/05Vollers will complete the installation of the water main on Wednesday, 6/29. They will begin switching your water services from the old water main to the new one beginning on Thursday, 6/30. Like the water main installation, they will start on Clearview near its intersection with North Harrison Street. Each house will experience a temporary loss of water service, but anyone home will be notified prior to the water being shut off.Aponte Construction Company, the Township's contractor for the road reconstruction project is planning on starting their work on Monday, 7/11.
The order of operation for their work is as follows: 1) Install new storm sewer system, 2) Install new Belgian block curb and concrete sidewalk, and
3) reconstruct the roadway. Again, the intersection of Clearview and North Harrison will be the starting point.
The ultimate result of the project will be a brand new roadway, accented by the Belgian block curbing along with the concrete sidewalks. In addition, the new storm sewers will assist in the removal of precipitation, which will add to the life of the new roadway.
6/17/05Vollers Excavators - Constructors' 8" water main installation has reached Grover Avenue. On Monday they will be installing new 8" water main on Grover Avenue, between Franklin Avenue and approximately 100 feet North of Clearview Avenue. Simultaneously, New Jersey American Water will be testing, disinfecting the new main installed on Clearview Avenue to prepare for the switch from the old pipe. When the new main on Clearview Avenue is ready, Vollers will have a crew installing the lateral connections from the new main to the residences on Clearview Avenue.
While your connection is being made you will not have water service. This will last for approximately 20 minutes. You will all be notified before your water is temporarily turned off.
During water main installation on Grover Avenue (between Clearview Avenue and Franklin Avenue), it is appreciated that travel on this road be as limited as possible. Thank you for your cooperation.
6/15/05As of Tuesday, June 14, approximately 650 feet of new 8 inch water main pipe have been installed. By the end of the week it is anticipated that the water main installation on Clearview Avenue will be complete and work on Grover Avenue will begin. Work will return to Clearview when it is time to install the house connections to the new water main. The intersection of Clearview and Tee-Ar is now fully open. Since work is continuing on the Grover end of Clearview Avenue, it is recommended that travel down Clearview between Tee-Ar and Grover be avoided as best as possible. Please try to use Dorann Avenue to avoid the construction. There have been some questions regarding the location of sidewalk on Clearview Avenue and Grover Avenue. The Township is waiting for unanimous agreement from the Clearview Avenue and Grover Avenue residents for the ultimate location of the sidewalk, whether it be on one or both sides of said roads.
Please contact me if you have any questions or comments. I can be reached by e-mail through the above Comments/Questions link.
06/10/05 Vollers, the contractor for New Jersey American Water began work on the installation of the new water main on Thursday 6/09/05. As of Friday afternoon, approximately 180 feet of pipe has been installed. On Monday 6/13, there will be more Vollers crew and equipment on the project, so it is very important to be cautious while driving, walking or cycling near the construction site. Also on Monday the intersection of Clearview Avenue and Tee-Ar Place will be under construction. Please try to avoid that intersection during the day. Remember, if you have any questions or comments, you can use the 'Comments' link at the top of this page.
