Burglar & Fire Alarm Information

  1. All alarm systems must be registered with the Princeton Township Police Department within thirty (30) days of installation.

  2. All alarm systems must be re-registered annually. This registration is to take place between January 1 and January 31 of the same year.

  3. Annual registration fee is $25.00.

  4. Failure to register/re-register an alarm system may result in a $100.00 fine.

  5. Every exterior burglar alarm system installed in a non-residential building, and every burglar and/or fire alarm system installed in a one or two family dwelling unit, must have device provided that will automatically shut off the outside audible alarm after fifteen (15) minutes of activation.

  6. No alarm recording device is to be tied into the police or fire department.

  7. False Alarm Fines: 1st - No Charge; 2nd - $200.00; 3rd - $300.00; 4th - $400.00; 5th or more - $500.00 for each.  After ten (10) false alarms, the system will no longer be answered by the police department for the remainder of the year or 90 days, whichever is greater.

  8. A clean slate is given at the start of January 1 the next year.

  9. Any person who installs an alarm system not in compliance with the Township of Princeton ordinance is subject to a $100.00 fine.

  10. Any false alarms intentionally set off is subject to a fine of not less than $200.00 nor more than $500.00.
