Alkaline Battery Recycling
The Mercer County Improvement Authority (M.C.I.A.) has recently discontinued recycling household Alkaline batteries through the curbside recycling program. Batteries are no longer to be put in the Yellow recycling bucket but instead should be put with your garbage for disposal.
Rechargeable batteries are still collected at local stores including Radio Shack, Home Depot, Lowes, WalMart, Sears and Target. All rechargeable batteries under 2 lbs. are accepted and are recycled through the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation (RBRC). Rechargeable batteries are batteries found in numerous household items including cell phones, cordless phones, cordless tools, watches, radios, etc.
For questions or concerns regarding Alkaline battery recycling please call the M.C.I.A. at 278-8086.
