Mission Statement

The mission of the Princeton Human Services Commission - as mandated by the elected officials of Princeton Borough and Princeton Township is to:

  • build an inclusive community;
  • respond to the needs of and advocate for all of Princeton residents in the area of civil and human rights and;
  • enhance the quality of life of youth, seniors and the economically disadvantaged.

Seniors Services:
  • Crosstown - 62/Tranportation Services: Door to door subsidized taxi service for any Princeton Borough or Princeton Township resident aged 62 or older who does not drive and any resident with limited disabilities. Limited to rides in Princeton Borough and Township.
  • For information and to register, call 609-924-6162. This is the Crosstown 62 registration line.
  • There is a fee of $2 per ride per person.
  • Information and referrals provided to any resident of Princeton Borough or Princeton Township regarding issues of the elderly.

Civil Rights:
  • Individuals and/or groups living and/or working in Princeton Borough or Princeton Township who allegedly have had their civil rights violated may present their concerns. These concerns will be received, evaluated and if necessary, referred to the appropriate channels.
  • Mediation provided for valid local complaints of civil rights violations.
  • Provide periodic community dialogues on various issues and concerns relevant to the community.
  • Information and referrals provided to any individual and/or group living and/or working in Princeton Borough or Township regarding civil rights.

General Assistance (welfare):
  • Income assistance for presently unemployed adults without dependent children that reside in Princeton Borough or Princeton Township. This applies to both employable and unemployable adults.
  • Food Stamp Program: Information and referrals available for individuals and families.
  • Individuals needing assistance must make an appointment.

Youth Services:
  • Youth Summer Employment Program: A seven week program providing work experience aimed at 14- to 16- year old youth that qualify based on family income, during July and August. Applications are available in the spring of the year, usually in April and May.
  • Toy Drive: This is a project to provide disadvantage children, ages 0-12 with their holiday wishes.
  • Information and referrals provided to all Princeton Borough and Township residents regarding youth issues to the appropriate agencies.

Latino Community Services:
  • Outreach to the community in order to facilitate verbal communication, etc.
  • Advocate for members of the community on quality of life issues.
  • Educate community about societal expectations.
  • Information and referrals provided to all residents of Princeton Borough and Princeton Township.
  • Spanish speaking staff are available.
