What Do I Do With? ……

 

Appliances – Household appliances can be taken to the Convenience Center on River Road. A permit is necessary to access the center and must be obtained at the Princeton Sewer Operating Committee office, Borough Hall, 1 Monument Drive, call 497-7639 for further information.  Please be aware, all Freon must be removed from freezers and air conditioners prior to disposal, a local repair person can do this for you and will issue a certificate stating it has been removed. 

 

Batteries – Alkaline batteries, (dry cell) ie, AAA, AA, A, C, D & 9 volt are to be placed in the garbage with your regular household refuse.  Car & Boat (wet cell) batteries – Check with local repair facilities to see if they accept or turn it in when you get a new battery.  Otherwise, take to Mercer County Household Chemical Waste Disposal Day.  Rechargeable batteries (watch, cell phone) batteries less than 2 lbs. can be disposed of at locations such as Radio Shack, Lowe’s, Home Depot, Sears. Look for the drop off container.

 

Bubble Wrap – Dispose with your regular household refuse or call a local shipping outlet to see if they will accept. DO NOT RECYCLE.

 

Cell Phones – A drop off container is located in the Township Police Department lobby. All related equipment is accepted including batteries and chargers.

 

Computers – Princeton Township residents can dispose of computers and all related accessories by appointment with the Department of Public Works. Call 688-2566 to schedule an appointment. Please do not drop off computers without an appointment.

Fluorescent Bulbs – Dispose thru the Mercer County Household Chemical Waste Disposal Day. Call 278-8086 or check this website for further information.

Latex Paint – Latex paint is to be placed in the garbage with your regular household refuse.  Remove lids, air dry the cans or fill with sand or kitty litter prior to placing out for garbage collection. DO NOT RECYCLE.

 

Packing Paper, Packing Peanuts, Styrofoam – Place in the garbage with your regular household refuse. DO NOT RECYCLE. It may be possible to take packing peanuts to a local shipping store. They also make a great drainage aid for your container plants.

Pizza Boxes – Dispose with your regular household refuse. DO NOT RECYCLE.

 

Plastic Flower Pots and Flower Flats – Return to the place of purchase or place with your regular household refuse. DO NOT RECYCLE.

Scrap Metal – Refer to the Yellow Pages for local scrap metal yards. Many will pay for the metal.

 

Syringes – Break needles and place in a hard plastic bottle with a secure top. Dispose with your regular household refuse. You can also join a syringe return program. Call 497-4266 for further information. DO NOT RECYCLE.

 

Take Out Containers – Plastic, Styrofoam, cardboard (pizza boxes included) are to be disposed thru your regular household refuse. DO NOT RECYCLE.

Tires – Tires off the rim can be taken to the Convenience Center on River Road Saturday’s and Monday’s from 8:00 – 3:30.  Call the Princeton Sewer Operating Committee at 497-7639 for information on how to obtain a sticker for your vehicle.

 

Used Motor Oil – Dispose at the Convenience Center on River Road, a sticker is necessary for your vehicle. Call the Princeton Sewer Operating Committee at 497-7639.
